We have finished the 2018 Every Shingle Heart Initiative!

Reliant Roofing launched the Every Shingle Heart Initiative in 2017 to aid families in need of new roofs. By 2018, they expanded their assistance to the Macclenny FL Samaritan Food Bank, offering a roof and hosting a Thanksgiving food drive. Families such as the Farrs and Glenn Rodgers were relieved of financial strain with free roof replacements, evoking deep gratitude for the life-changing support provided.

Congratulations to Our 2018 Every Shingle Heart Recipients!

A good roof protects our home, keeps us dry and shelters us from storms. It’s something that some of us take for granted. For some of these families, the cost of replacing a damaged roof is simply beyond their reach. We knew there was an opportunity to help and that’s why Reliant Roofing created our Every Shingle Heart Initiative.

When we started this initiative in 2017, our goal was simple. We wanted to provide three deserving families in Jacksonville with a new roof. Our Every Shingle Heart Initiative provided more than just a few new roofs.  For these deserving families, this initiative offered peace of mind and relief from a major source of stress in their lives.

As 2018 rolled in, we decided to make adjustments to our annual Every Shingle Heart program. We were privileged to learn the stories of many families this year and it has weighed heavily on us as we tried to pick just three to help.  Our ultimate goal with Every Shingle Heart was to bring our community together and help as many people as possible. With this in mind, we have chosen to select a local organization as the third recipient of our 2018 Every Shingle Heart Initiative, in addition to the two families chosen.

Macclenny FL Samaritan Food Bank

On Saturday, November 17, 2018 Reliant Roofing provided a free roof replacement for Macclenny Samaritan Food Bank and held a Thanksgiving food drive in their honor. Reliant Roofing provided over 15 large boxes of food to the food bank, along with the new roof.

The Samaritan Food Pantry has been providing a helping hand to the community for over 10 years. In addition to their services as a food ministry, they also help with hotel and gas vouchers. For more information on the Samaritan Food Pantry visit their website.

Pastor Mitch Rhoden, owner of the Samaritan Food Pantry says, “I want to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the wonderful roofing job at the food bank. The food drive and roof replacement are such a huge help to the work that we do weekly. The food will be used to feed many families in the area.”

Why we chose the Samaritan Food Bank:

“Since I was born and raised in Macclenny, I knew of Pastor Mitch and his church. Pastor Mitch needed a roof replacement for his personal home due to storm damage and was referred to us by a friend of mine, who attends his church. Once we replaced the roof on his home, he had such a good experience with us, he asked us to replace the roof for his church as well. After spending so much time with him and his staff, we had the pleasure of growing a friendship. Pastor Mitch confided in us that the Good Samaritan Food Pantry, which is owned by his church, was in desperate need of a roof replacement. After learning more about the organization and their situation, we felt that they were the perfect recipients of our Every Shingle Heart Initiative. We wanted to give back to the community in a way that made an impact. We started Every Shingle Heart to bring our community together and help as many people as possible. We believe that by supplying a new roof and food to this food pantry, we will help bring Baker County together.” —Cameron Shouppe, Reliant Roofing Owner

“We appreciate anybody that can help us feed 1000 people or more per month. Reliant Roofing is helping us do what God has called us to do, which is help care for the residents in our community in Baker County. We are just so appreciative and thankful for the roof replacement donation along with the Thanksgiving food drive that Reliant Roofing is hosting on our behalf. We feed 1000 people or more a month and that number will be even higher during the holiday months. The need for help here is great, so this roof and food donation is such a blessing and we can’t express enough how much we appreciate all the help!” —Pastor Mitch Rhoden

Robbie and Jennifer Farr

Robbie and Jennifer Farr are a married couple 3 children. On Monday, December 17, 2018 Reliant Roofing provided a free roof replacement for the Farr family.

Jennifer and Robbie Farr was nominated by a neighbor who said “[the Farrs] truly deserve a good roof over their heads. They are honest, hardworking individuals who have several made sacrifices to enable Mrs. Farr to be a stay-at-home mother for a short season while their three children are very young. When she is working, Mrs. Farr is a teacher at the Jericho School for Children with Autism and Developmental Disabilities, lovingly taking on the challenge of teaching children who are unable to function in a public school setting.”

The storms in Northeast Florida over the last few years, Hurricane Irma and Matthew in particular, have taken a major toll on of their roof and budgeting for a new roof is beyond impossible. In order to safely and better care for their young children, a roof replacement was necessary.

Glenn Rodgers

Glenn Rodgers is an 81 year old widower raising his 2 great grandchildren. On Monday, December 17, 2018 Reliant Roofing provided a free roof replacement for the Rodgers family.

Glenn Rodgers was nominated by one of his grandchildren, Katrina, who stated, “My 81 year old Grandfather is the most deserving man I know. Since Thanksgiving, he has lost a granddaughter and his wife. He is now raising his six and eight year old grandkids. His daughter just had stroke in April and now he’s taking care of her as well.”

“I lost half of my heart last year. This year would have been 62 years we’ve been married,” Rodgers said of his wife’s passing, adding that caring for his 6- and 8-year-old great-granddaughters is “a challenge, but it’s worth it.”
“Well, I almost fell out of the chair, when Reliant Roofing told me that they would be giving me a new roof. I had to preach my wife’s funeral last year. That’s the hardest funeral I’ve ever preached. And I was down. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t. But this new roof brought a new inspiration into my heart. Good news after bad news comes through like a shining light. I just want to thank them from the bottom of my heart. They made this old man a Christmas.” —Glenn Rodgers

“This is such a blessing. Words cannot express how thankful we are for this new roof. This takes a huge weight off my shoulders as a father trying to provide for his children.” —Robbie Farr
